Networked Learning Communities

Does it help a kindergarten teacher to know what will be expected of her students when they reach high school? Is it useful for a high school principal to know what kindergarten students are learning?

In several Hamilton County communities, the answer is a resounding “yes!”

As part of its Leadership Initiative, the Public Education Foundation provides funding and support for Networked Learning Communities. School leaders from
East Ridge, Lookout Valley, Soddy Daisy and Howard elementary, middle and high schools which are zoned together have formed Networked Learning Communities to discuss common goals, develop plans with a shared focus, and help make smooth transitions for students.

Schools interested in forming Networked Learning Communities are encouraged to apply!  Proposal guidelines are available here.

The Hamilton County story is a great story.
If you’ll look at the improvement they’ve made, it’s because of two things: one is intervention, and the other is innovation…this work in Hamilton County can be a catalyst for reform.
